FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
You Ask — We Answer
HOW IS PERSIST THERAPY DIFFERENT?
If you have been a client in another therapy clinic, your experience at Persist Therapy will look a bit different. First of all, we come to YOU, meeting you in your home, at school/daycare or in the community to work on struggles that impact you, where you are. Second, we require (unless otherwise arranged), caregivers to be present at all sessions. We don't want to work with your child without teaching you all the tips and tricks too. Kids can't make progress seeing a specialist 1x a week for an hour, the work happens at home, with you there to support them. Finally, our services are holistic, getting at the root of the problem vs. putting a band-aid on it with behavior plans, sticker charts (I said it!) and rewards--with you (YES YOU) working as their coach and support system.
WHY DOES PERSIST THERAPY NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE?
Because Persist Therapy often works outside of the typical medical model--to provide family and sibling therapies--not all services are covered by insurance companies. Keeping therapy in the home, school and community allows us to keep our pricing low, fair and attainable for all. Persist Therapy has low overhead costs (rent, utilities, equipment) and we are therefore able to offer services at often half the cost of our competitors.
UNSURE IF YOU WOULD BENEFIT FROM OUR SERVICES?
We offer a FREE 15 minute screening and consultation over the phone/computer
WHY DOES PERSIST THERAPY POST THEIR PRICING?
Good question--thanks for asking! We have absolutely nothing to hide and are proud of our pricing. There is nothing more frustrating than wondering about a service and needing to call to figure out the pricing. Our pricing is the same for each and every person that walks through our doors. Our pricing is per session and is not a packaged deal that you are stuck with paying for up front. We believe in our services and want them to be available for EVERYONE.
WHAT AGES DO YOU SERVE AT PERSIST THERAPY?
At Persist Therapy--there is no age limit! Our specialty is working with pediatric populations, from birth to 18. If you're outside that age range, that doesn't mean Persist isn't for you. If Persist Therapy sounds like a good fit for your needs, let's chat with a free consultation and find out. Sam has experience working with all age ranges, specializing in stroke, brain injury, post concussion syndrome and Parkinson's Disease.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FOR OUR FIRST MEETING?
Don't be nervous--we are here to help! Our initial session is longer because I spend time getting to know your family and start building a relationship with your child and family. I'll adjust my time with you as needed, moving between play, assessment, observation and discussion with you and your child. I'm here to work with you and your child--don't spend hours cleaning your house and act as you normally would--I'm here to help--judgment free!
CAN I SUBMIT MY THERAPY COSTS TO INSURANCE?
You are more than welcome to submit therapy costs to your insurance provider or HSA. I will provide invoicing that can be submitted. However, I cannot guarantee insurance will pay for services, especially sibling and family sessions. Also, keep in mind, you WILL need a doctors order if you plan to submit to insurance.
DO I NEED A DOCTOR'S ORDER?
You will only need a doctor's order for services if you plan to submit invoicing to insurance.
HOW DO I PAY FOR SERVICES?
Prior to your first session, I will put your credit card information into our electronic medical record system . Services will be billed at the end of each session and you will have access to your detailed invoices following each session via the patient portal.

I do not offer sessions in "batches" or offer discounts. Why? Each child progresses at their own pace, charging for a set number of sessions seems unethical and deceptive.
